A spray paint booth is a room specifically designed for spray painting objects. It provides a dedicated environment for painting operations, meeting requirements for temperature, humidity, illumination, and air cleanliness. It can limit and treat paint mist and organic waste gases generated during spray painting before discharging them, making it an environmentally friendly painting equipment. According to different methods of paint mist treatment, spray paint booth equipment can be divided into dry and wet types. The dry type spray paint booth can integrate painting and drying, saving investment. The wet type spray paint booth has a high efficiency in treating paint mist and can be further divided into water curtain type, water wash type, water swirl type, etc.
Typically, a spray paint booth consists of a room body, supply air system, exhaust system, water supply system, paint mist collection system (paint sludge treatment system), paint supply system, workpiece suspension system, electrical control system (lighting system), and so on. Generally, the design parameters for spray paint booths are as follows:
Lighting: The brightness inside the spray paint booth should reach 800-1000 lux, using lighting close to the D65 light source. The interior walls should be matte white. When using partitions made of glass or other transparent materials for lighting, fixed lamps should be used as the light source, and partitions should separate the lamp installation area from the electrostatic paint zone, with reliable sealing measures taken at installation gaps. The partition material should be flame-resistant and not easily damaged, and the thickness of deposits on the partition should not affect the specified illumination.
Airflow: Generally, for dry type spray paint booths, the fan pressure head can be 0.7-1.0KPa. For wet type spray paint booths, the fan pressure head can be 1.26-1.5KPa, and the loaded airflow speed in the work area is generally 0.3-0.5m/s.
Filtration efficiency: The dust removal filtration efficiency should reach above 98%. The top cotton pads commonly used in repair shops have two models: EU5 and EU6. When using the spray paint booth, the upper part can be illuminated with a solar lamp inside the booth, and normally, extremely fine dust per square meter should be less than 5 particles.
Room body: The spray paint booth must be sealed, and there should be no accumulation of paint dust at seams. The booth body uses mother-son insertion type insulated painted walls, with good sealing and spray paint booth temperature retention performance. The doors are edged with aluminum alloy, and observation windows are installed in the door center to monitor the inside at any time. There is a work door on the side of the booth body for staff to enter and exit conveniently.
Heating speed: The time required to heat the spray paint booth from 20℃ to 60℃ is about 10-15 minutes. Note that some spray paint booth thermometers are inaccurate, and the temperature of the painted object inside the spray paint booth should be used for measurement.
Noise: The noise level should not exceed 75 dB.
In summary, the design points of spray paint booths are:
Determine a reasonable configuration form.
Determine a reasonable average airflow speed on the horizontal plane of the spray paint room.
Reasonably match the supply and exhaust systems to ensure slight positive pressure inside the spray paint room.
Layout the lighting reasonably.
Adopt a reasonable method for paint mist purification, preventing the discharge of heavily polluted gases into the atmosphere.
